Glass Lenses are traditional-made crown glass lenses with a refractive index of 1.53,  known for their superior optical clarity and scratch resistance, making them a good choice for normal prescriptions and full-frame glasses. However, they are heavier and less impact-resistant than newer plastic alternatives like Trivex, which also has a 1.53 index but offers better durability and is lighter weight.

High Index Glass Facts - Eye prescriptions below +/-4.00 can benefit from our standard 1.53 or 1.60 lenses. We recommend 1.70 or 1.80 high-index lenses for people with prescriptions between +/-4.00 and +/-8.00, and 1.80 & 1.90 high-index lenses for people with prescriptions +/-8.00 and higher.
